a week of biking and other goodness

(not counting random errands — a mile here and there)

ok, so i’m pretty sure i’ll be ready to roll for the sprint distance version of the pgh triathlon in 2011 — the only thing i *haven’t* done of the triathlon is the 20km bike ride (ironically, i think i’ve run longer distances than i’ve ever biked, unless my ride from 5dk to my apartment in chaoyang that one time in 2008 was like 13 miles) but considering i was just two miles short today, i think i’ll be able to swing it.  maybe i’ll bump up to the international distance tri?(!?!?)

i test-rode a fairly easy/straight-forward route home from boston (as in easy to navigate; the road conditions were only so-so), but i don’t think i’ll be using it that often. the pavement really sucked, and there was one killer hill that i had to walk a few feet up because i couldn’t shift gears fast enough.  my left quad and cardiovascular fitness weren’t really there either. i definitely plan to do more hill training, though; just maybe not on a fairly busy arterial road.

yay! my leg can do things again! (also ever since i made the blog-announcement that i was swearing off restaurants i got fatter cuz i still went to restaurants anyway but i noticed that my pants fit me a little better today vs. right before i bought the bike.)

this is not really turning into a full-blown bike/fitness blog but i really do need to be less pudgy before interview season.
